Take action to fund open space preservation in New Jersey! The New Jersey State Assembly will vote this Monday, August 4th on an important bill that will continue critical open space preservation efforts, and we need your help in urging them to vote yes! The legislation SCR84 (Senate)/ACR130 (Assembly) would provide continued funding for the very successful Green Acres program, as well as Blue Acres projects that purchase flood-impacted properties and protect undeveloped coastal watershed and riparian lands to help prevent future flood damage. Click here to find the phone number of your Assembly Representative: njleg.state.nj.us/members/legsearch.asp Suggested talking points for your phone call: • Please attend session on Monday, August 4th and vote YES on SCR84. • All Green Acres, Blue Acres, Farmland and Historic Preservation funds from the 2009 $400 million bond act are now fully allocated. Without action, these critical efforts will come to a standstill while many identified areas still need protection. • SCR84 is a wise investment in New Jersey’s future. Every dollar invested in state preservation programs returns $10 in economic value through services such as water filtration and flood control, and supports important industries. • The New Jersey Senate already passed this legislation almost unanimously earlier this year. • This bill provides a long-term, dedicated source of funding for preservation efforts with no direct budget impact for five years. Thank you for taking time to help with this important effort!
