Yahoo India News – 16 hours ago MUMBAI: The Congress party’s loathing and intolerance for Gujarat chief minister Narendra Modi also extends to those who favour the BJP’s prime ministerial nominee.In a contentious remark on Tuesday, to which the Congress has yet to respond officially, Mumbai Congress president Janardhan Chandurkar advocated that the government should strip India’s best known singer Lata Mangeshkar of her Bharat Ratna if she praised Narendra Modi again. A few days ago, Lata Mangeshkar shared the stage with Modi during the inauguration of the Deenanath Mangeshkar Hospital in Pune and praised the BJP’s prime ministerial candidate. She said that she prayed to God that we get what we aspire for, that we see Narendra Modi on the prime minister’s chair. She said that this was everyone’s wish and hoped that Modi became the prime minister. This did not go down very well with the Congress party rank and file. The party came out lambasting her and advising her to keep away from politics and making political statements. However, Chandurkar took his anger to a whole new level, saying that the “government should take back any medals given to people who praise Narendra Modi. I dont want to name them now. If such comments are made again, I will write to the central government to withdraw the honour bestowed on such individuals,” he said, indirectly referring to Lata Mangeshkar.
