Take note if you own or operate a security company. You will be held responsible for the training you DO NOT provide. Also note that attorneys and officers blame the company for lack of training, and we will see that is a successful argument in the civil action. Take note if your are a security officer. You cannot pass blame on to the state or your company for lack of training. These two young security officers will be spending four years in prison. Consider the fact that they are white and their victim was black. I suspect their prison stay will not be very pleasant. STATE OF OHIO: Take note: You send people out as armed guards with 20 hours of training. Absolutely NONE of that training addresses the legal authority of a security officer to detain or arrest an individual. That is the central issue that led to the confrontation and use of deadly force is this specific case. Along with the fact there was a collision of three very difficult personalities. Take note if you are a criminal and/or street corner lawyer. You may well know the law but that doesnt make you bullet proof. If you are out slinging dope and being a punk, sometimes karma catches up even if it was completely against the law.
