Take the Magic back! The Magic of Christmas! The Magic is in us! -The magic of original cultural celebrations that teach us to practice the rituals of giving, like the NorthWestern Potlatch! Corporations are robbing it from us with every dollar we give them for products made by people imprisoned in modern slavery. No care or concern is given to the lives of people that are piecing together these implements of our emptiness. No peace, no time –for self, for friend, for family- for a teenager who’s working maybe 75 hours a week for less than 10 cents an hour for work I couldn’t imagine the pressure and intensity –the devastating conditions and being treated like an ignorant insensitive machine. Whoa Child-in-me, as I walk the earth, so this land supporting tree and sea is the connection between our feet and what ails you is a sour wind upon me. As my neighbors blindly preach of the jobs that are sold to our understanding as “security” I wish they could know how your eyes see the work imposed upon you by foreign multinational companies. The lies they teach, allowing us to consume so blindly… As the earth rots out like our teeth, as the rivers are clogged with oil and poisons like our heart disease, as the landscape is shaved and paved for human ingenuity like the skin we shave in order to abide shallow standards of beauty… as all this crashes upon my conscious sight like a tidal wave of tragedy… I stand my full height and know that my life is something very special that may end at any time and the gifts I seek to share with it will serve an Eco’Logical diversity to come long after me. ...Thanks for listening to me preach, now...
