Take the referendum in Crimea as you like (legal, illegal, biased, under-duress), but there is a huge smacking of hypocrisy from the Western Nations given their support for peoples right to self govern and recognition of various self declared nations - which may well have been the just thing to do (and normally at the end of bloody and barbaric civil war, they should be thankful that for the most part this has been bloodless): eg. 1. 1993 - Eritrea from Ethiopia 2. 2011 - South Sudan from Sudan 3. 2008 - Kosovo from Serbia 4. 2002 - Timor-Leste from Indonesia Did you know Venice is currently voting to secede from Italy?
