Take time to listen, eat well, exercise and nurture social relationships. Live minimally, accept what cannot be changed. At Elite Training Center we encourage our members to strive to be something better and to not settle for less than best. To be truly happy is to be better. Find satisfaction in the little things. Some people deem them trivial, but as a martial artist the little accomplishments end up equating to bigger ones. Maybe you finally grasp a difficult technique in Krav Maga? It could end up being the connection you’ve been searching for in Muay Thain to Krav Maga. A quick discovery can be made by connecting your footwork in Kali and understanding distance in MMA. It’s also possible to make connections in BJJ to MMA by not using the gi for a particular choke. Many of us get wrapped up in what’s big and what’s new! We want things immediately and fool ourselves into rushing into something. Take your time and enjoy the learning process. Take your time and nurture new relationships on the mat. I’ve forged some of the greatest relationships with my classmates and co-workers at Elite Training Center due to the extreme nature of what we do. We aren’t being shot at, nor walking by land mines, but we all go through physically and mentally exhausting days. The Krav Maga, Muay Thai, BJJ and MMA promotions are perfect examples. When we do this together we bond as we share a similar experience. Be smart and don’t try to do too much too early in your martial arts career. Have patience, stay active, eat well and stay the course. S.Derhammer Elite Training Center 1628 South Pacific Coast Highway, Redondo Beach, CA 90277 (310) 543-1600 elitetrainingcenter.net
