Taken and modified from Abhishek Mishras comment on one of the posts. Some people just strike a chord : How can you be a rational person if what you dont see and dont have proof of is more important to you than what is logical ? If that which can be asserted without evidence, cannot be dismissed without evidence, where is rationality in it? If you still believe in angels, in magic, in some Godly person dictating how you should live your life, then I really have few words to say. It is said that Mahabharata was dictated by Ved Vyas to Lord Ganesha himself. See? So believing these stories is more logical than the real world which you experience everyday ? Rationals dont believe in these stories any more. No archeological proof exists for existence of such a person. Science is what humanity needs most in these times. Religions, their ideals, stories and books were written and collected by people who had little knowledge of how things should work in the current era. They may have been ideal in the days when the books were conceived, but they are certainly not today. I believe there is really no point in defending religions at all. You might say that there are positive points in religions and I might point out as much negative points. We shouldnt leave the positive points, but I would ask you to provide less stress to religion and more to humanity, for a lot of modern books have better life teachings than those books. And if someone says that religion is the only tool which teaches humanity, I would ask them to read the demographics of the Scandinavian countries. They have the maximum percentage of atheists in the world, and they still are amongst the most peaceful countries in the world. In Norway, as less as 2% people go to church and as of 2005, 72% people dont believe in God. In Sweden, between 46% and 85% of people do not believe in God. And I dont see these countries fighting and killing people. Rather, it is the other way round.
