Taken form the Foothill Sentry Letter to the Editor Dear Editor: As a resident and property owner in North Orange, I am against the sale of the Peralta school property at Meats and Canal. I want to see the land remain as it is, leased to the Super Sports Golf & Recreation Center and as a home for the Olive Crest Academy. Two words exemplify the recent behavior of the OUSD Board members supporting the sale of the Peralta property; they are “bully” and “pulpit.” These men’s attitudes and behavior raise a few basic questions in my mind: Who will benefit most from the sale of the property? What is to gain by disregarding community input and pushing ahead with an unpopular plan? Why is there such an apparent rush by these two men to sell off school properties, specifically the Peralta site? Where, with Orange already deficient in improved recreational space, will citizens and students find what Super Sports currently offers? When Orange schools become even more crowded, as has been the trend, where will OUSD look to remedy the situation? How better could OUSD use the $50,000 of taxpayer money allocated by a vote urged by Surridge and Ledesma to hire a PR firm intended to “Sell the Sale” to the citizens of Orange? Wendy Olive Heights
