Taken from : Kidney Disease > Kidney disease’ stages are defined by glomerular filtration rate (GFR). For patients in stage 3 CKD, their GFR is 30~59ml/min, and they have moderate kidney damage in this time. Besides, patients may also have some symptoms in this stage. In fact, stage 3 kidney disease is also divided into stage A and stage B. While for patients in stage A, their kidneys are able to complete their work, so they may not have any symptom. But to patients in stage B, symptoms will appear, which should be concerned about by patients in this stage. 1) Edema Edema is a common symptom in severe kidney disease patients. In this stage, because patients’ kidney damage is not very severe, they may have edema in their lower limbs or around their eyes, which is relatively mild. While when patients have sever kidney damage, they may have swelling in their lungs, enterocoelia, etc, and that may lead to patients have hard breath. 2) Urine changes Patients may have some changes in their urine. One is foamy urine, which presents as small foams on the urine surface, and that can exist for a long time. This is caused by the loss of protein. Another common symptom is color urine, and patients’ urine may have abnormal color, such as tea color, red color, brown, etc. Besides, patients may also have frequent urine in this time. Fatigue 3) Patients in this stage may feel fatigue, which may be caused by anemia. In fact, kidney has the function of excreting hemopoietin, which can promote the formation of red cells. Thereby, when the kidneys are damaged, the excretion of hemopoietin will also be affected, so patents are easy to have anemia. 4) Kidney pain Some kidney disease can cause pain on patients’ back around their kidneys, such as PKD, kidney cyst, etc. This symptom can appear in this stage. 5) Sleep problem Patients may have sleep problem in this stage, and that may be caused by symptoms like itching, muscle cramping, etc. Patients are not very likely to have nervous problem in this time, which can also affect their sleep. These are the major symptoms that patients with stage 3 kidney disease often have. Patients in this stage should cope with their condition seriously, because it is possible to improve their condition significantly in this stage, and the later the treatment begins, the worse the prognosis will be.
