Taken from Laphonza Butler: In order to win a livable wage for all low-wage workers, we need to creatively build a coalition that reflects the voices impacted the most, alongside grassroots leaders that understand the benefits to our local economy. Thats why long term care workers are in the Fight for $15. Home care providers and nursing home workers across the country are uniting to raise wages and improve care. Earlier this month, ULTCW members joined front-line fast food workers and took a major stride forward on the pathway that will secure $15 an hour for us all. Our members have been marching, sustaining picket lines, and joining delegations captained by the “Fight for 15 “campaign, since its inception. Were not only making the long term care system better for everyone, were fighting for all those who call California home! The pathway to $15 an hour for caregivers begins with this Novembers elections, and continues with negotiations with the various County Boards of Supervisors. Our contracts in Los Angeles and San Bernardino are both up for renegotiation in 2015. Join us in taking the first pivotal steps on the pathway that will get us to $15 for all long term care workers over the next few years: https://ultcw.seiu.org/page/signup/dignity-california
