Taken ftom BOA Grand Nationals blog: 2014 Grand National Championships: Prelims 9:01 Daniel Sanchez: Here is how the Selection of Semi-Finalists works (it is a complex process): Thirty (30) bands (or more if necessary to accomodate participation by all classes) will advanc to Semi-Finals. 1) The 11 highest scoring bands in each prelims (22 total), regardless of class, will advance. 2) The next eight (8) highest scoring bands across both days, regardless of class, will advance. 3) The two (2) highest scoring bands from each of the four classes from *each day* (should they not already be in Semis) will advance. That means that a minimum of 30 bands and a maximum of 42 bands can advance to Semifinals. Averages around 36 or so. For the schedule of Semis: - The class representation bands (rule #3 above) are given the earliest performance slots (random) The remaining 30 bands are then split into Top-22 (top 22 scores regardless of day) and Bottom-8 (30-23 scores regardless of day) Starting at 8:30am. - 4 of the Bottom-8 (random) - Top-22 (random) - 4 of the Bottom-8 (random)
