Taking Control of How You Eat You may intuitively know that eating out less can lead to more weight loss. Of course that goes without saying for much of traditional fast food. But, that is not the basis of the new research. It wasn’t only about the kinds of foods one tends to eat at restaurants, but the lack of control of portion size, and the more mindful experience that comes from preparing your own food that had the authors of the study to put dining out less as “Number 2” in their 1-2-3 Plan. Participants who had lunch out once time a week or more lost about 5 pounds less than those individuals who did not eat out so often. When you are eating out, you do not have control over how the dish is prepared, the ingredients, the portion size-- so this takes the awareness and total control away from you.
