Taking a photo of the Church of Santa Maria del Carmine was always - TopicsExpress

Taking a photo of the Church of Santa Maria del Carmine was always a challenge - mainly due to the cars parked almost on its steps. Now that the Piazza del Carmine is no longer a parking lot, the next step will be to spruce up the square with some greenery and benches. The local residents will be made part of this project and we all look forward to the results. Why is this very unassuming Church (whose facade was never even completed) so important? Mainly for its contents: the Brancacci Chapel with its incredible frescos painted in the early 15th century by Masaccio - revolutionary for his use of chiaroscuro and perspective, which paved the way for the Renaissance. Make sure you click to open the photo,so you can really get the idea! photo of the Brancacci Chapel by Elio Padovano.
