Taking note of the recent developments in the passage of the Kashmiri Hindu Temples and Shrines Bill, P N Bhat Memorial Trust, has made it clear that the community of exiled Hindus of Kashmir, pressing for the early passage of the Shrines Bill would not countenance any dilution in the ambit of the Bill for the protection and preservation of the Hindu shrines and temples in Kashmir. It reiterated that no exclusion would be acceptable. The nodal organisation noted that the community was seriously distressed by the delay in the passage of the bill, saying that delay of each day in the passage of the Bill results in deterioration of the holy sites and shrines lying in states of serious neglect. The extended meeting of the Trust was chaired by Harji Lal Jad and was attended by the members of the representative Committee dealing with the Temples and Shrines Bill, including Dr A N Pandita, Dr R L Bhat, Dr B L Handoo, Manmohanji Thaplo, Pyare Lal Bhat, Kashmiri Lal Bhat, M L Ganjo, H L Bhat, Pranji Pandit, M K Raina, Prof P N Trichal, Rajinder Ji, Ramesh Hangloo, Ashok Braro, Shibanji Saraf, H N Pandita. The meeting expressed satisfaction with the efforts being made by the Trust to convince the powers both at the State and Central level about the need for enacting the Bill pending before the State Legislature at an early date. The meeting was informed that the Trust had sent detailed memos to the Prime Minister and the chairperson of UPA in this regard and was meeting all the leaders to make sure that the hurdles in the early passage of the Shrines Bill were got cleared. The representative committee welcomed the concern shown by the Congress president Saifudin Soz, Minister of Housing, Horticulture and Culture Raman Bhalla and other leaders for their support regarding the passage of Bill.
