Taking off on a cross country journey is like packing for everywhere and yet nowhere. The idea is the journey traversing the countries back roads seeing views you cannot enjoy sitting on your couch. Destinations need the proper clothes but dealing with incumbent weather is more prominent. It is the idea of man and machine against the elements. Speaking of elements and packing it is most beneficial to take care of your person while out on the road. Personally packing for rain, snow, and sub freezing temperatures in the middle of the summer on a bright sunny day are common. Neighbors gawk and just have to ask; “Why are you packing rain gear”? The famous statement comes to mind, “if I have to explain it, you will never understand”. Oil Change, belt, tires, plugs, lights and certain touch points for safety. It is well worth the $100.00 for inspection and parts repairs and labor are extra of course and easier to pay when not on the road. One last comment, speaking to the words everywhere and nowhere well we all know no motorcycle ride is in a straight line for ever. Back roads are usually spontaneous and some definitely lead to nowhere but isn’t that absolutely were one wants to be? Have a wonderful ride. I have all my pre-trip inspections performed at
