Taking on our Goliath! (Giants) Am I a dog that you should come to me with sticks?- Goliath David and Goliath is a story about what happens when ordinary people confront their giants. By Giants, I mean powerful opponents of all kinds from disability, misfortune and oppression. How do we respond when the odds are against us? Should I play by the rules or follow my own instincts? Shall I persevere or give up? Should I strike back or forgive? Giants are not what we think they are. The same qualities that appear to give them strength are often the source of great weakness. And the fact of being underdogs can change people in ways that we often fail to appreciate: it can open doors, create opportunities, educate and enlighten and make possible what might otherwise have seemed unthinkable. What David have taught us is that we should never fight Goliath on their terms, we should fight them on our terms. Goliath wore bronze armor that made him heavy, he had a heavy metal javelin and he was expecting hand to hand combat. David on the other hand did not wear an armor he was light, he could move much faster than Goliath, he used a sling which means he never have to come near him. Why did Goliaths advantage suddenly became his weakness? His big and muscular body made him a sitting duck for David. David had faith in God, he also changed the rules of the game on Goliath. The powerful and strong are not always what they seem. But the lord said to Samuel, Do not look on his appearance or on the height of his stature, because I have rejected him; for the Lord does not see as mortals see; they look on the outward appearance, but the Lord looks on the heart. 1 Samuel 16:7 ____________________________________ Coming Soon!!!
