Taking part in the Centennial Pine tree and Time Capsule ceremony in 1956 were from left to right: Lorenz Tiedt - Wolverine Stockyard & City Commissioner, Don Gilson – Federal-Mogul, Ladd Bartholomew – Cain Buick & Pontiac, Dr. Herb Oatley – St. Johns Dentist, Douglas Pardee - architect who worked on St. Joe’s School additions, Fred Lewis – Lawyer, Prosecuting Attorney & Judge, Ray Kentfield – House Painter, Charles Coletta – Sealed Power & St. Johns Mayor, Dr. Clyde Wilcox – First Congregation Church Minister, Ed Stephenson – manager of J. C. Penney, and John Bond – Insurance Salesman. The Centennial Time Capsule was buried on July 18, 1956 (this photo appears to have been taken in the fall) in the front lawn of the old Courthouse and the Centennial Pine was planted at the same time. The tree’s gone now and the Capsule moved to a another location to make way for the new Clinton County Courthouse.
