Talented twins get share of £750,000 arts fund Phil Miller Arts Correspondent . Monday 17 November 2014 Eighty artists, including twins and the filmmaker daughter of Billy Connolly, have been awarded a total of £750,000 in bursaries from the national arts funding body. Creative Scotland today announces the list of artists who have received funding for a diverse slate of work with grants worth £5000, £15,000 and £30,000. This is the last round of the popular Arts Bursary Scheme - the body is replacing it with a new fund called Open Funding. The recipients include two praised artists who also happen to be twins. Hayley Tompkins was given £15,000 towards a 12-month period of studio time to consolidate current focuses and bring new intentioned works into being, while Sue Tompkins also received £15,000 to enable the development of practice and time to research, explore and make new work in a variety of media. Hayley Tompkins was part of the Scotland + Venice exhibition at the Venice Biennale in 2013 and Sue Tompkins, lead singer in post-punk band Life Without Buildings, is featured in the Generation nationwide show of Scottish contemporary art. Connollys daughter Cara Connolly received £5,000 to help script two films. Ciara Phillips, the Glasgow-based visual artist, who is in the running for this years Turner Prize, has been given £15,000 to support the research, development and production of new individual and collaborative work over the period of a year. Scots contemporary artist Luke Fowler, who was also shortlisted for the Turner Prize, has been given £15,000.
