Tales from the farm (part 3): Well I know it is a week late (and yes you dont know that but the characters in this saga do), but went to the farm last weekend for Chriss birthday yes folks he is now my age that 3 months have passed so he has less argument that I am sooooo much older. Anyway...the adventure this week occurred after Chris, his dad and brother went sand crane hunting (I know I had never heard of one either) I toted Chriss Christmas present up to the farm for his mom and I to hide and well I turn around and in the door he walks as the present in very visible in my car. So his mom and I dash out the door (at his brothers where his mom was invited for lunch) to go hide the present next door at the farm. We secure the gift in the RV, and as we are walking out of the shop again al most are caught as Chris walks up on us. Denicce (Chriss mom) and I head back over to his brothers (it is next door to the farm, in city terms) and on the way see a sand crane that fell off the back of the pick up. We decide to be helpful after the boys apparently do not hear Denice screaming You lost a bird. I jump out of the vehicle and go try to retrieve the crane to run around to Denice who is ready with her hand out the window (little did I realize at the time she was not really excited about holding said sand crane). I try once to grab the crane around the neck, and the sensation is so disgusting I barely begin to lift the crane and drop it squealing and dancing about. Meanwhile Chris sees the commotion and begins to walk towards the gate where the crane is laying. I try to grab the crane again thinking certainly I can do this or I will be teased from now to the end of time. I try the neck again and cannot even lift the crane because of the squishy sensation of the neck, and the same dance occurs with hand flapping and wiping on my jeans trying to eliminate the sensation. Denice yells :grab the wing, so I do just that..however, as I lift the crane it grows and grows. This dang bird was long enough that when I grab the elbow (best description I can give) and continue to lift it stretched out to where I was holding my arm straight out (remember folks I am 6 ft tall). I run the bird over to Denice, and look up Chirs is laughing so hard at me he is bent over hardly able to walk. Well needless to say, he will never let me live this down from now until the end of time...LOL!
