Tales of the Coonhound, a continuing saga So, I am working a 2300-0300 detail last night. Its a nice cool night, so I shut windows down. Except for one i leave open an inch and a half. this particular window does not move easily. I return home at 0300, and believe it or not, ther is no Lucy to greet me. I. So out in the back and whistle for her...no response. Now its turned cool mid 40s. she doesnt like to be cold. grab a beer and a cigar on the deck she could hear and smell me. that did not work. I am thinking the worst so I get in the truck and start cruising the area. a couple hours pass with no luck. I call the guys working to keep an eye out. Now its getting light out. Now I am looking for roadkill.cruised most of Avon north Brockton. south Randolph and Holbrook with no luck. check in with local PDs. Brockton had a dog hit on Oak st by the Park. Log note says it was taken to West Bridgewater animal Hospital, a 24 hour emergency center. My heart has dropped by now. I call them and speak with duty vet. Yes the did have ahit dog come in, does not match description. at his point I return home and start to go into the thick brush behind house, If she got hit by wal-mart she would try to get home. I am really sick to my stomach at this point. Then my phone rings, Randolph Animal Hosptal comes up on ID. Shit! I speak with tech, she asks if Lucy was missing, a man from Holbrook called with number from her rabies tag. she gives me his number, I am already driving to Holbrook at this point. I call the guy and he tells me where he is and she is fine. she made her way tho the old Southeastern construction and was roaming the ward since 0200, around 0600 they were able to grab her and tie her up.feet doing a dance and telling me about her adventure. about this time myallergies were really kicking in forgot Allerest this morning. the guy Matt refused any reward. ther are still good people out there. This dog will kill me yet stay tuned for nevt installment
