Talk about a flood of emotion over a memory just now! Im packing my hospital bag and wanted to make sure my old camera worked so I started playing around with it, got pissed, and threw the damned thing at the wall. Of course I cried from frustration and pure exhaustion from the events of today and when I calmed my bat shit crazy self down I remembered my favorite thing about that camera. A few years ago on my trip to Thailand, I was in Pakse, Laos and came across some kids at a small village (the same on where I touched that wild monkey). They were friendly and amazed at the group of white folk that wandered onto their side of the world. One boy in particular hung around me for a minute so I grabbed the camera from my bag and snapped a photo. He looked confused so I bent down and showed him the shot. The look on his face was the coolest Ive ever witnessed; he had never seen an actual photo of himself before. I was so honored to be able to give that little boy something no one else had! That memory will be carried with me my entire life and Im so grateful that God brought it to the front of my mind tonight :)
