Talk about the day getting off to a good start, this was the first - TopicsExpress

Talk about the day getting off to a good start, this was the first email I read this morning. I hope the sender doesnt mind my posting it, but I was so impressed with her kindness. I blanked the email subjects name for privacy reasons. The original letter mentioned here must have been sent to me in care of the publisher, and was much delayed getting to me. The list of books were ones in which I found her ancestors name. And Im sure I still have her original letter in a manila folder because I dont throw away readers letters. Heres the email message: Hi Lucia, I am a senior specialist helping people with their Medicare and retirement security, etc. I recently met with an 82 year old woman named -----------. We spent far more time talking about her life than discussing Medicare needs. She mentioned you and very proudly brought out a copy of your book Walk in my Soul. She told me that you mentioned her grandfather (or maybe great-grandfather) in this book. She explained that she had written you a letter asking where you found the information about him. Then she very proudly pulled out an obviously aged envelope, gently pulled the letter from inside and handed it to me with a great look of pride. It was a letter from you dated 1995, first stating that you were appalled to learn that her letter had come so many months before and you had just learned of it, then continuing on to explain that her grandfathers information had been found in multiple sources, even history books I believe. She told me with a tear in her eye that she would treasure this until her last days. I believe you had included a list of other books that she might find of interest as well. She seems to believe they are yours and that you are a highly accomplished author. I see that you are, but it was evident that the book list she has are from a variety of authors. She says she has always wanted to read more from you, but finances just dont allow it. I was intending to purchase some of your other works for her, but when I came across your site, I knew it would mean so much more to her to receive a signed copy or even just a letter from you. If you can do this for her, I would be willing to pay. She is a very dear (and entertaining!) woman. I was not able to help her with her other needs, but I know I was put in her path for a reason!
