The core of our work, however, is helping patients find doctors who can best diagnose and treat the conditions afflicting them. We want to help patients find specialized physicians and also give patients power over their diagnoses by helping them chart a course toward better health using trackers, record-keeping tools, and more. Our Story All this began in 2006, after our country was devastated by a national disaster. Hurricane Katrina took away the certainties of everyday life on the Gulf Coast. Without roofs over our heads, it became incredibly difficult to find doctors and specialists who could treat the specific ailments affecting our patients. Our community’s need for fast, effective, individualized care could not be ignored. So, we began the painstaking process of manually compiling a directory of doctors with cutting edge skills — physicians who were superior in their field of study. This compilation was done by doctors and nurses with the goal of helping our patients, many of whom had been displaced by the storm, find any doctor across the country. Once the immediate crisis had ended and normality slowly began to return, we realized that we had the beginnings of an invaluable resource. Many more patients could benefit from our work. With renewed effort, we expanded our directory to contain doctors from all over the country. Then, we created a simple but powerful search engine that anyone would be able to use to quickly and accurately find the right doctor for any diagnosis. Finally, we built a network for doctors of all specialties to communicate with one another and share information about what they do best. And now, we’re giving this tool to you. We’re giving it to patients, their loved ones, doctors, and medical facilities of all types. Were here to give patients power over their diagnoses and the paths they take on the way to wellness. Were here to keep doctors connected to one another, and to their patients. We are here to help facilities champion their efforts in serving patients and recommend their Physicians.
