Talking about birthdays (previous post) .... 36 years ago today me and my hubby James at the ages of 18 and 19 were beginning to make plans with his cousins family and some more of our friends . We were going to Cheaha for a cookout even though I was fit to bust and almost 2 weeks overdue with our daughter Crossley Anne. Well needless to say ,that morning about 2 a.m. ,I went into labor . Had already been a week or so before and it was a false alarm and they sent me back home . We didnt own a phone so we rode up to his Aunt Shirleys from Munford back up to his Aunt Shirleys before you get to Forsythes old store on old 202 . I think he was scared and wanted her with him ! We just had to make it to Citizens Hospital in Talladega . She put me in the back seat of her Pinto I think it was and James drove us there in her car . James sped all the way there . We were even pulled over and escorted in by a cop lol . We had to leave them doing the paperwork ,Doctor said there was no time to waste ! He said it was a miracle she wasnt born in the back of that lil hatchback Ford Pinto .Water broke in the elevator , Anne was born as soon as they put me in the labor room . 11 lb 2 oz. babygirl , Shirleigh Anne Crossley ! Happy 4th of July to us ....she is still a FIRECRACKER to this day just like her daddy . :) He couldnt be found later on that day ...James had went to Cheaha to cook out with his buddies and celebrate the 4th and his new baby girl without me ! In case I am not on much tomorrow , Happy Birthday baby ! I love you so much
