Talking on his governments program on Agriculture. He said agriculture will serve as the springboard to lift our people out of poverty because 80% of our people find their livelihoods in agriculture. He said a responsible government must necessarily pay special attention to this sector. He said a public private partnership agency (PPPA) will be established to develop agribusinesses that will attract the necessary foreign direct investment to the sector to jump start economic growth at the bottom. He promised that at the end of his tenure every community in the state would contribute to the global economy. He said his tour of the state was revealing on the economic potential of the state. He made particular reference to Ginger in Kachia, maize&soya in saminaka, tomatoes in Ikara, soya in Zaria, cowpeas in Giwa B/gwari, rice at Gurara etc saying a value chain on these commodities will banish poverty in Kaduna state forever. He promised to provide the necessary infrastructure to make evacuation of produce easy. He also said small scale farmers will be provided with affordable farm implements such as hand held tractors etc on lease to pay over a period. He promised to create organic farm belts backed by the state government so our farmers can take advantage of the premium prices offered by the international market for organic foods. He said farmers will get fertilizers&other farm inputs in good time to ensure good harvests, farmers microfinance bank to support farmers among others. He said hell engage multilateral international development partners to finance the development of this all important sector because the state is neck deep in debt so only an ingenious approach i.e thinking outside the box will sustain it. He called on the youths to embrace the positive change that beckons on them, saying the task of rebuilding the state was a clarion call for every patriotic Nigerian&indigene of Kaduna.
