Talks between CSC and JCC held in a cordial atmosphere Rather assures to consider employees demands with a positive frame of mind Next round of talks on 27th September, 2013 SRINAGAR, SEPTEMBER 17- The Cabinet Sub Committee (CSC) constituted by the Government recently to resolve the demands of employees held a meeting with the representatives of the Employees Joint Coordination Committee (JCC) here today. The talks were held in a very cordial atmosphere. The minister for Finance and Ladakh Affairs, Mr. Abdul Rahim Rather who is also the Chairman of the CSC reiterated Government’s resolve to address the demands of the employees with a positive frame of mind as early as possible. He assured the representatives of JCC that the Coalition Government was seriously looking into the demands of the employees with regard to enhancement of the retirement age, removal of pay anomalies, if any, and formulation of a comprehensive policy for casual labourers engaged from time to time. It was decided that the next round of talks would be held on 27th of the current month. After getting assurance from the CSC the representatives of JCC agreed to defer their proposed strike. Stating that the Government was not in favour of imposing curbs on trade Union activities, Mr. Rather urged upon the employees representatives to maintain the atmosphere of trust and goodwill, and promote, work culture in offices. He said the track record of the CSC is clear that whatever commitments it has made with the employees in the past have been fulfilled in letter and spirit. He said the Government was not in favour of any confrontation with its employees. He said that despite limited financial resources the Government has met most of the demands of the employees and will continue to hold discussion with them to redress their remaining genuine grievances. The other members of the CSC who were present in the meeting included the Minister for Rural Development and Panchayati Raj, Mr. Ali Mohammad Sagar, Minister for Medical Education and Sports, Mr. Taj Mohi-ud-din, Minister for PHE, Irrigation and Flood Control, Mr. Sham Lal Sharma and the Minister for Planning and Development, Mr. Ajay Sadhotra. Chief Secretary, Mr. Iqbal Khanday, Principal Secretary Planning and Development, Mr. B. R. Sharma, Principal Secretary Finance, Mr. B. B. Vyas, Principal Secretary Home, Mr. Suresh Kumar and Secretary, General Administration Department, Mr. M. A. Bukhari were also present in the meeting. The representatives of the employees JCC Mr. Rouf Ahmad Bhat, Mr. Abdul Qayoom Wani, Mr. Gafoor Dar and Mohammad Ashraf put forth the demands of the employees. The representatives of the Employees Joint Coordination Committee hailed Government’s decision to constitute CSC to sort out employees demands. They also appreciated the Government for meeting their various demands including implementation of 6th Pay Commission Recommendations and Payment of 6th Pay Commission arrears to its employees despite financial constraints.
