Tambuwal urges youths to embrace education Funtua (Katsina State) - The Speaker of the Federal House of Representatives, Alhaji Aminu Tambuwal, on Sunday in Funtua, Katsina State advised youths to resist any attempt to discourage them from acquiring education. Tambuwal, who made the call at the 18th graduation ceremony of Madarasatul Hisburahim, an Islamic education forum, described education as the pillar of development in any society. “There is the need for stakeholders to work conscientiously towards imparting moral education in the younger generation,’’ he said. The Speaker later donated N3 million to the school’s management, and N50,000 to each of the 53 graduating students who successfully memorised the Holy Qur’an. Also speaking, the Sultan of Sokoto, Alhaji Sa’ad Abubakar III, said Islam preaches peace and harmony and reiterated his call that Muslims were not terrorists. He urged the graduates to consider the memorisation of the Holy Qur’an as a step to the pursuance of knowledge and pledged continued support to the school. The Sultan also donated N1 million to the school. While speaking, the state’s Gov. Ibrahim Shema, who was represented by the Commissioner for Agriculture, Alhaji Musa Adamu, said his administration had initiated the Qur’anic school feeding support programme.
