Tangmarg rocks for PDP Tangmarg News Tangmarg: As the news broke that Peoples Democratic Party has nominated youth icon of Tangmarg, Mohammad Abbas Wani as its candidate for 14- Gulmarg Assembly segment for forthcoming assembly polls, hundreds of people from all over the constituency thronged party’s Tangmarg office Sunday evening to celebrate the nomination. The town wore a festive look with young and enthusiastic PDP cadres bursting fire crackers and raising slogans in favour of Abbas. The crowds were also chanting slogans in favour of Mufti Mohammad Sayeed, Mehbooba Mufti and Muzaffar Hussain Beigh. Abbas, hailing from a middle class business family of Chandilora, Tangmarg joined PDP in 2008 and since then has been working 24x7 to take the party message to grass-roots and managed to ensure a lead of nearly 5000 votes from Gulmarg segment in favour of PDP candidate in just concluded Lok Sabha elections. A talented sports person, Abbas has an enviable record in Skiing and has Skied on almost all slopes of India. “For Abbas, politics is all about social work,” said Munshi Riyaz, a young supporter busy bursting crackers and shouting slogans. Elaborating his point, Riyaz said that right from 2002, people in Tangmarg have been witnessing Abbas on social scene. “In case of natural calamities, Abbas is always the first to be there doing whatever he can,” he said. Another youth supporter, Nayeem says that entire population of Tangmarg, particularly the youth, identify with Abbas. “He is one amongst us. He has cried in our sorrows and laughed heartily in our joy. We all think and believe that it is not Abbas who has been nominated by PDP but every individual of Tangmarg has been honoured,” Nayeem added. “As sports person, he has always encouraged talent; as Administrative Officer, MTM College of Education, he was keen that young boys and girls seek education and as a social and political activist, he has all along stood with needy and destitute,” said a local teacher, Farooq Ahmad. Meanwhile, PDP’s Zoonal President, Zoon Gulmarg, Abdul Aziz Dar expressed gratitude to the party high command for taking the right decision in nominating Abbas as candidate. “Abbas is a talented person with extra ordinary leadership qualities.
