Tanzania team update: The whole team visited a state secondary school this morning in the bush out in the middle of nowhere. Impressed by their attitude to learning but again they have little in the way of resources and when we asked the head teacher what they most needed in the school, the answer was electricity - they have none. Despite classes of 45, one textbook between 16 children, the school does extremely well due to the motivation and commitment of the students and teaching staff. After lunch the team split and the girls visited a girls boarding school near the secondary school. This school is newly built, is run by the Anglican Diocese and is the vision of the bishop to help keep girls in education. Thames will be supporting this school in the sponsored cross country run in November by raising £3000 for the roof of their dining hall so they can get accreditation with the Education Department. The boys had great fun playing football with some of the local villagers.
