Tapping Into Your Subconscious BY Bill Butler 1. Really Relax. Uniting the workings of your conscious mind with your subconscious works best in a very relaxed state. An ideal time to achieve this communication is at bedtime. Make yourself completely comfortable. 2. Sowing Seed. Because your subconscious understands imagery, make your suggestions in the form of painted pictures; very vivid images. The more clear you are, the better. James Allen wrote “As A Man Thinketh,” yet as popular as this classic is, he did not invent the words. They originated in Proverbs 23:7, which say, “As a man thinketh, so is he. He did say, however, “A man is literally what he thinks, his character being the complete sum of all his thoughts.” The late Dr. (Eli) Stanley Jones, a missionary and theologian said, “If the Holy Spirit can take over the subconscious with our consent and cooperation, then we have almighty Power working at the basis of our lives, then we can do anything we ought to do, go anywhere we ought to go, and be anything we ought to be.“ So what you make of yourself, what you make of your life, all comes down to the seed(s) you sow. Ensure you sow seeds that are healthy, life-giving, and positive. For example, a landscape architect relies upon practical principles, proven processes and trustworthy techniques for designing and building an ornamental garden, rendering it as aesthetically beautiful as possible. In like manner, you are the draftsman of your own soul sanctuary, your own inner landscape. Your thoughts are the seeds you plant in the sacred soil of your subconscious. They are the mental blueprints that control, direct and govern your life; ideas that beautify, enrich and make your life meaningful. Philippians 4:8 tells us what kinds of seeds we need to sow into our subconscious. Whatsoever things are: true honest just pure lovely of good report Remember this: Noble thoughts, habitually dwelt upon, become noble actions. When you take this kind of care, nothing is left to chance. You order your thoughts in such a way that they all have their rightful place. Positive phrasing yields remarkable results. When these things are made manifest into your experience, then you live in the same manner and to the same degree. Plant the seed deep. 3. Repetitive petition. Earl Nightingale said, “Whatever we plant in our subconscious mind and nourish with repetition and emotion will one day become a reality.” W. Clement Stone said, “You affect your subconscious mind by verbal repetition.” Matthew 6:7 says, “But when you pray, do not use vain repetitions.” In other words, make the expression of what you deeply desire very meaningful. To have them sink into your subconscious, as you would do with affirmations, repeat slowly, convincingly and with authority; your prayer, believing in the objective outcome. 4. Eager Expectation. Prayer may be said to be the height of your hopes and the depth of desire. Make your prayer as deep as your subconscious. Make your prayer as deep as your subconscious. The depth of the impression made on your subconscious mind is according to the depth of your desire, the boldness of your belief, the eagerness of your expectation, and on how clearly you see that which you desire as already objectively attained. Earl Nightingale said, “The more intensely we feel about an idea or a goal, the more assuredly the idea, buried deep in our subconscious, will direct us along the path to its fulfillment.” Fervency is the degree of eager expectation. This fervency combines powerfully with your faith. Do we not all deeply desire, hunger and thirst, for such things as love, joy, peace and understanding? In the Beatitudes, Jesus said, “Blessed are they that hunger and thirst after righteousness, for they shall be filled.” 5. Firm Faith. The firmness of your faith is the boldness of your belief. Mark 11:23 says, “For verily I say unto you, that whosoever shall say unto this mountain, be thou removed, and be thou cast into the sea; and shall not doubt in his heart, but shall believe that those things which he saith shall come to pass; he shall have whatsoever he saith.” In Matthew, Chapter 9, Jesus encounters two blind men. According to their faith, they regained their sight. This is the wonder-working power of faith to believe. The image you hold in your minds eye becomes reality, the substance of things hoped for, according to faith (Hebrews 11:1.) This is the power of your subconscious mind.
