Taqwa (piety) is not performing Tahajjud each night & praying nafl - TopicsExpress

Taqwa (piety) is not performing Tahajjud each night & praying nafl (optional) salāh each day. It is not fasting every day or observing the sunnah fasts each week or month. It is not even found in giving away thousands of rands in charity or spending most of the time in the masājid. Taqwa is to fulfill the rights of اللَّهُ Subhana Taala AND the rights of man! [Huqūqul Allāh wal huqūqul ‘ibād.] This is what Taqwa really is! Many people think that simply fulfilling the rights of اللَّهُ Subhana Taala & exerting oneself in voluntary ibādah is taqwa, & in doing so, neglect the rights that their spouses, children, parents, & others have over them. We have to spend time with them, give them gifts now & again, take care of them when they are sick, clothe & feed them according to our means, teach them about this way of life,& much more! On the flip side, it would be incorrect to fulfill the rights of those around us to the extent that we become negligent of the rights of اللَّهُ Subhana Taala. We can’t neglect our obligatory salāh & fasts, nor should we do unlawful things in an effort to make our family happy. Alhamdulillāh, Islam is such a moderate religion. It is neither extreme that it becomes difficult on the believer, nor is it too lenient that the believer forgets his/ her real objective in life. May اللَّهُ Subhana Taala grant us understanding of the real essence of Taqwa & grant us the tawfīq to fulfill His rights as well as those of others around you
