Taraba Acting Governor Appoints Council Chairmen and Head of Service Acting Governor of Taraba State, Abubakar Sani Danladi, has appointed and sworn in Daniel Angyu, Bello Bendu and Kefas Kifen as caretaker chairmen for Wukari and Karim-Lamido local governments and Yangtu Development area respectively. Danladi, who earlier nullified all the appointments made by sacked Acting Governor, Garba Umar, also reaffirmed the appointment of Augustine Bazing and Hilkiah Bubajoda Mafindi as the Head of Service and Chairman of the State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB) respectively. Bazing and Mafindi were fired by Umar in December last year, but Danladi said they should return to their various offices, because, according to the Supreme Court ruling, they were never sacked. The SUBEB chairman was returned with other members of the board who served under him before their sack. All the appointees took their oaths of office pledging diligence and efficiency to duty on Friday at the Executive Chambers of Government House, Jalingo. The acting governor charged the council chairmen to eschew tribal and religious sentiments while discharging their duties, but should be fair and just, by providing a “level playing ground” for the people. “Grassroots administration is key to this government which is going to focus on the goal of providing to the needs and aspirations of the people,” Danladi said. He particularly asked the caretaker chairman of the war-torn Wukari council to work hard for lasting peace to return so that residents could co-exist in harmony. “As a government, we sincerely feel for the people of Wukari. Thus, we shall do everything possible to ensure there is no more senseless killings in the state,” he said.
