Tarn came to give me a lift home after the grounding as we thought - TopicsExpress

Tarn came to give me a lift home after the grounding as we thought that it was a salvage job and total loss. We went to Elliott heads on Friday afternoon, a few hours before high tide to take a last look at our little boat. To our amazement the boat was still upright and relatively high in the water. With a new burst of enthusiasm and hope we set out to salvage and refloat the boat and with the permission of our insurance company we bought a pump, battery and hose to do the job. With a lot of water pumped out the boat was still grounded and leaking, but now I had more time to look for the leak and found it. The rubber hose that holds the propeller shaft seal had come apart. With the leak stopped and the bilge pumped out we had a chance but time and tide beat us this time as it had past high tide. The boat was still grounded and the tide going out. With Tarns help I moved the anchor out to deeper water to give us a chance to winch the boat out on the next high tide.
