Tasmania Forecast Forecast for the rest of Thursday Isolated showers about the north. Areas of rain developing about the west during the morning, extending to the far south in the afternoon and evening. Cloudy though mostly fine elsewhere. Cool to mild with light to moderate northerly winds, becoming variable about the south later. Weather Situation A ridge of high pressure over the Tasman Sea will continue to move slowly eastwards while a cold front approaches Tasmania. The front will stall just to the southwest of the state as a low deepens near Adelaide during the evening, and then moves over New South Wales and Victoria during Friday while the front slowly crosses Tasmania. The low is expected to move off the south coast of New South Wales during Saturday then deepen, while a high over southern parts of Western Australia extends a ridge towards southwest Tasmania.
