Tata Power Company Limited : Tata Power Wins the Energize Awards 2012-2013 for Excellence in Power Transmission and Excellence in Power Distribution in Mumbai 07/26/2013 | 09:26am US/Eastern Recommend: 0 Tata Power, Indias largest integrated power utility, today announced crossing over 43 MUs from its Solar Power Plant in Gujarat. Spread over 100 acres of land, the solar plant is located at Mithapur in Gujarat. Mithapur project, one of the largest of its kind in the country uses Crystalline Silicon Photo-Voltaic Technology, which is modular, proven, and widely deployed. Tata Power through its 100% subsidiary, Tata Power Renewable Energy Limited had signed a Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) for the project with Gujarat Urja Vikas Nigam Limited. Since its missioning and declaration of mercial operations on 25th January 2012, the plant has shown excellence in operational performance. The plant helped in reducing an annual average of 37,696 tons of Carbon Dioxide, by producing 39,597 MWh per year (average) equivalent amount of clean energy. Speaking on achieving this milestone, Mr. Anil Sardana, Managing Director, Tata Power, said, Tata Power is mitted to generating 20-25 % of its total generation capacity from clean energy sources and is proud to have developed one of the largest solar projects in the country. It gives us great pride to achieve operational excellence at one of our biggest solar plant which continues to be a lead performer in solar power generation in India. The Companys strategy emphasizes the development of clean energy generation from renewable sources to balance the carbon emissions from fossil fuel based generation capacity while contributing towards energy security of the country. Tata Power currently has four of its renewable projects registered under the Clean Development Mechanism (CDM) program by United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC). These projects include the 50.4 MW Gadag project, the 50.4 MW Wind project at Khandke, and the 50.4 MW Wind project at Samana in Maharashtra. The fourth project is the 25 MW Solar project at Mithapur, Gujarat. Tata Power presently has a strong portfolio of 30+ MW of Solar Power making it one of the largest solar power generators in India. The Company missioned 25 MW solar photovoltaic (PV) power project at Mithapur, Gujarat and 3 MW at Mulshi, Maharashtra. Its subsidiary Tata Power Delhi Distribution Ltd has also missioned a 1 MW grid-connected roof top solar plant in Delhi. A 60.48 KWP solar power plant has been functional on top of one of the building at its office in Carnac Bunder, Mumbai. The Company proposes to add 50 MW of solar power capacity every year.
