Tattoos... So. David Dimbleby, the veteran English broadcaster, has finally succumbed to the lure of the tattoo...and got his first tattoo...A rather whopping scorpion has been branded on his shoulder and he happily declares : Youre only old once... All of which rather led to the Big O beginning to wonder if the whole world is going tattoo mad. Famous female pop-stars get butterflies tattooed on their buttocks. And rugby players flaunt their massive tattoo-covered biceps, while old Goldenballs himself is practically covered by now, with all kinds of designs and hieroglyphics. At least David Dimbleby and I have one thing in common...no, no...not a tattoo...advancing years...So, should I too be only old once and go in for the dreaded, pain-filled tattoo ?? (Hows about a nice tattoo of a honey bee, Big O ?? Your life-long interest ? And, after all, the honey bee was Napoleons emblem...) Would it add considerably to my street cred, to have my virginal flesh pierced by the tattooists needle, I wonder ?? I also wonder if it would gain me a multitude of brownie points with Dear Annie ?? Im away to make a pot of tea, to ponder my dilemma. As a rather large birthday approaches, I just wonder if I am forever to be left in a state of tattoo-less limbo...or do I do a Freddy Mercury...♫♫ I wanna break free ♫♫...
