Tax Deductions Some people will go to any extent to create a tax deduction or a business expense. Art Buchwald, the columnist and humorist, was alone at a restaurant. A man at the next table leaned over and asked him, Would you like to buy this restaurant? Buchwald replied, No. I would not be interested. Then the stranger asked a second question: What is your name? I want to be able to report that we talked about business. Taking advantage of legitimate tax deductions and expense items is an honorable thing, but it should always be done with restraint and discretion.
