“Tax amnesty” program signed into law SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) – If you didn’t pay state taxes on time or underreported your income, a new program may be able to help you avoid costly penalties. Governor Patrick has signed into law a “tax amnesty program” that allows filers a period of two months in which they can repay what they owe in state income, sales, or withholding taxes. Those who pay their taxes and interest during that time period will not have to pay any penalties. The bill was introduced by House Republicans, who estimate that it will bring about $35 million in revenue to the state. 22News reporter Kaitlin Goslee is taking a closer look at this program, and what it could mean for you on 22News at Noon.
