Taylor is Considering Building a Splash-Pad in Heritage - TopicsExpress

Taylor is Considering Building a Splash-Pad in Heritage Park. Splash-Pads can be a tricky subject. Cities that have built small splash-pads to supplement existing water features, like pools, have been successful for the most part. The problem seems to be very large splash pads. It is problems with these large units that the article addresses. The plan in Taylor (under the former mayor), was to build a large splash-pad as a permanent *replacement* for all pools in the city. We think the resident would be best served by having at least one pool in the city re-opened (Taylors only pool was closed all last season) with a small splash-pad near the pool. After reading the article it seems pretty clear that a large splash-pad is expensive ($360,000) and not a suitable *replacement* for swimming pools.
