Taytay UMC recently gave tribute to the elders of the Church. This is the Churchs way of showing its love to the elders of the Church. The title of the tribute is PARANGAL SA MGA HALIGI NG IGLESYA. This has become a sort of tradition because this is the third time the Church is giving a tribute. The UMW started this in 2006 under the leadership of our late sister Miriam C. Victor., then the UMW president. This was repeated in 2010. Since this year is Centennial Year, the tribute became part of the Centennial Celebration. Those elders who will be given tribute are those who are 1. 75 years old and older, 2. professing members, 3. those who will be physically present during the tribute which is Nov. 15,2014. The Centennial Committee under the leadership of Dr. Habacon instructed the PARANGAL committee to include members who will be 75 until May 31, 2015.. Another innovation was to include also those who qualify but have died. The committee decided that those who died within the period of the starting salvo of the centennial celebration which was the Rock of Ages 1 and Nov 15, 2014 will be included. Church records showed that 6 professing members died during this period. Some where questioning why some of their loved ones were not included. This is the reason why the committee made this decision or else we need to include all those who died since 1914. The theme PARANGAL SA MGA HALIGI NG IGLESYA passed the scrutiny of the Church Council and the MINISTERIAL Staff. There is no question that Jesus is the FOUNDATION TUMC never changed that. Haligi is not Foundation. Haligi is POSTE and the Haligi stands on the Foundation, our Lord Jesus Christ. Lilian I.Carreon Chairperson Parangal Committee
