Te Reo Maori is a beautiful language as it has multiple meanings - TopicsExpress

Te Reo Maori is a beautiful language as it has multiple meanings and you can think about it from different angles - its interpretive and not as black and white in its dimension as English can be. I however have started thinking that English also has those capabilities for having different meanings than what is intended. Lets take the word to capture/captivate. I often use it when I describe how a beautiful dance captivated the audience or a song captured the essence of peace or something equally lovely. And then I think about the actual meaning of captive which means a person who has been imprisoned or an animal who has been confined and I definately DONT mean to imply any such state of oppression. So it makes me continue to search for liberation in all aspects of my spoken and lived languages and how to remain mindful of all the ways in which we are and can be FREE.
