Tea breaks may well be a thing of the past as we continue to fight the governments legislation to cut a range of employment rights. Its being done in the name of flexibility, but will simply limit the power of an employee to get a reasonable deal. The government even admits there is no real demand for it, but why not do it if you can? It moves us closer to where we started. In 1908 miners in Blackball miners went on strike because they were only given 15 minutes a day to eat their lunch and were being asked to work 10 hours. After a 3 month strike, they got a 30 mins lunchbreak and an 8 hour day. The judge of the case told the miners their case was unreasonable, then took a 90 minute lunch break himself. 106 years later, were listening to the same justifications.
