Teach for American is seeking a Managing Director, Strategy (Flexible) The Role At Teach For America, which has a strong culture of utilizing data to drive decision-making, the Managing Director of Strategy plays a particularly crucial role by shaping how data affects our preparation, support and development of teachers. In this role, you will ensure that decision-making at the most senior levels of the organization is informed by a deep and nuanced understanding of our results on the outcomes we value most during our corps members’ two years in the classroom (e.g., their impact on student achievement, their sense of possibility for achieving our mission). You will partner with colleagues across the organization to structure how and when senior national and regional leaders of the organization engage with this information, while overseeing all ongoing analysis nationally to derive broader insights from our results. As Teach For America continues its transition to a new operating model in which regions have dramatically increased empowerment, accountability, and flexibility, you will play a leading role in determining what outcomes will be used to measure success. Across the nation, we bring staff and corps members the best thinking in education from Teach For America and external partners, then help them translate these leanings into positive results for kids. By helping our people live up to their potential, we’re ensuring students can fulfill their own. Within TPSD, the Strategy & Research team is focused on generating transformational insights about what works and what doesn’t and then translating these insights into strategic choices, long-term continuous improvement, and short-term performance management. Our three core pillars of work are Performance Management, Innovation and Organizational Learning, and Strategic Planning. Our Performance Management work (of which you would be a leader) focuses on identifying the program outcomes we should be tracking, determining metrics to track these outcomes, and then (in collaboration with our TPSD Technology team) designing data collection and reporting mechanisms to capture these metrics and deliver the right information to decision-makers at the right time. Our Innovation and Organizational Learning work focuses on accelerating the pace of innovation and organizational learning across our program model. Finally, our Strategic Planning work is to design and facilitate our TPSD strategic planning processes and support our regions in the TPSD aspects of their strategic planning.
