Teacher and corporal punishment! Recent spat of news of how the principal battered the student and ruptured his eardrum is a disturbing news. In our collective effort to nurture and raise young minds to be a better human being, he doesnt have to suffer the brutality of human rage. While many believe that strict discipline is a necessity given many juvenile delinquencies and many drug related problem among the youths, is corporal punishment the ultimate resort and remedy for the afflicted ones? While some may believe that becoming a martinet in dealing such cases will do good but in the long run there are serious repercussions! I am in view that corporal punishment not only demoralizes the student but also induces fear. Fear of course does no good to student as the student lives in constant fear that there is no joy to learn and play. A father doesnt want his child to constantly live in fear. And teachers are our father figure and our mother. Teachers are our second parents. More than parents we live under the roof of constant guidance of our teachers. We dont need lashing but we badly need your guidance. We would love to hear that you are proud of us and tell us that we can be better. We are no better and we falter but it doesnt mean we dont try to be better. We fail, and sometimes find things nonsensical but it doesnt mean we do not wish to learn and cooperate. Let us be your child. Teach us, mold us to be better human being. But dont negate us. We know, you love us like your child so love us, help us to see the world through your eyes of infinite wisdom. Teach us peace,not violence!
