Teachers are dedicated professionals of whom time is one of their most precious commodities. After working with students all day long, grading papers, and then lesson planning, there unfortunately isn’t a lot of time to research best practice in education. Teachers must now know the best ways to work with students who have anxiety, Attention Deficit Disorder, Autism, dyslexia and other reading deficits, writing deficits, and the list continues to grow! Excel Achievement not only offers their tutors professional development, but we pay them to come to it. Our on the job one-on-one clinical instruction is so much more than tutoring. Teachers learn how to use best practice in a one-on-one setting, apply it, and then see immediate results. As Excel is recognized as a practitioner from the International Dyslexia Association, teachers will also learn research-based methodology as to how to further help these students as well. The following are some of the professional development opportunities for teachers who work at Excel Achievement Center: 1. Warning signs of dyslexia 2. Teaching methods to help students with visual and auditory processing problems 3. Ways to work with students who have autism 4. Ways to assist the child with ADHD 5. Ways to assist students with language processing problems 6. Current techniques to help the visual-spatial student in mathematics 7. Ways to improve writing If you are interested in this opportunity, please e-mail Angela Nelson our Staff and Public Relations Director at angela@letslearnnow, or call her at 605-988-0900.
