Teachers at St James Independent Junior School believe that learning this ancient Indian tongue, which is the mother of most Indo-European languages, has a wealth of benefits. Says St James’ Sanskrit Head of Dept. Warwick Jessup, who has a PhD in the language from Oxford University, “This is the most perfect and logical language in the world and the only one that is not named after the people who speak it. Indeed, the word itself means ‘perfected language’.” In India, Sanskrit is regarded as an esoteric and erudite subject, carefully confined to specialised institutes. St James did not, as might be supposed, introduce the subject into the curriculum under pressure from Indian parents. https://youtube/watch?v=AsY3NVrviiw
