Teachers – you can safely and anonymously follow our blog, along with 13,000 other visitors and followers, at liftingthecurtainoneducation.wordpress/. Unlike a “like” on Facebook that anyone can see and pass on to others, a “follow” on our blog only means that you get an email anytime there is a new blog post. Many teachers even set up a separate email address just for receiving blog posts. Sadly, in many urban high schools a “like” to a page like this on Facebook will immediately identify you as “…just another troublemaker” – ensuring that you will never be considered by your administration for those assignments like coaching position, senior class advisor, LGBT head, National Honor Society chair, or paid attendance to select conference that means so much to all of us. The rampant examples of cronyism and bullying that so many of you have shared on our blog, ensures that. It takes a very brave (most would say “foolish”) and passionate teacher who will take that high a risk! I actually recommend to my friends who are active teachers, not retired, to avoid Facebook “Likes” and comments on this page.
