Team Antigua had an excellent start at the 2014 Blue Mountain Championships. The scorching hot sun of Jamaica did not deter our boys and girls, they fought hard and brought bitter sweet success. Under the guidance our team manager/travelling coach Erica Williams all players have been signed to play their age group and to play up.. this is an effort to build their strength and mental capacity as tennis players and prepare them for next weeks Jamaica ITF. Matches kicked off with the Under 16 competition: U16 Results: Cordell Williams Jr. defeated Jason Lawson of Jamaica 4-6, 6-0 (10-6) to advance to the boys U16 quarterfinals after receiving a walkover in the first round with his opponent deemed a No Show. Williams will today meet Jean Phillip Murray of St,. Lucia in their bid for a quarterfinals spot. Chante Francis defeated Onika Shaw of Jamaica 6-1, 6-1 to advance the girls U16 quarterfinals. Shereese Henry went down to IIana Blackwood of Barbados 0-6, 0-6 U14 Results Aron Fields lost to Ruben Pinchas of Jamaica 3-8 Cordell Williams Jr. who entered the U14 draw as the no. 1 seed and received a BYE into the quarterfinals will today meet Bobby Lomax of Cayman in their bid for the Semi finals spot. Shereese Henry who also entered the U14 draw as the no. 1 seed, receiving a BYE into the quarterfinals will today meet compatriot Chante Francis in their bid for the seminals spot. Francis received a Walk over into the quarterfinals as a result of a No Show U12 Results Aron fields defeated the No. 3 seed Alexander Bicknell of Jamaica 8-4 to secure his spot in the boys quarterfinals. He will today meet Bobby Lomax of Cayman in their bid for a semifinals spot. Girls Under 12 matches will kick off today... we wish Selene Kentish the very best. Good Job guys...
