Team Kumul head coach Mal Meninga is impressed with the selected Prime Ministers 13 PNG squad of 21 that has been announced. Meninga said the national selectors had also done a wonderful job with the All Star Squads. The selection focus for the PM13 match was on combinations and youth and the best group of players playing at the highest level possible. The head coach said that 23 year old Luke Page was a welcome addition who is big, strong and aggressive. “I know the Raiders have a big wrap on him and he is also really excited about playing so we are pleased to have him. “Rhys is another who deserves a chance to show the talent he has and Wellington and Mark desperately wanted to play, this is the attitude we want,” he said. Meninga said that the PNG Hunters have had a fantastic season and have a number of young talented players who are now proven at a high level. Hunters include Dion Aiye, Sebastian Pandia, Brandy Peter, Israel Eliab, Wartovo Puara, Adam Korave, Esau Siune, Roger Laka, Gary Lo, Timothy Lomai, Adex Wera and Willie Minoga. He said these players are fit and ready to take on what will be a star studded Australian team. “There are a number of new young faces to the Kumul squad and we have to focus on the players who will still be here and will form the basis of the Kumuls squad for the next World Cup in 2017,” Meninga said. He was very excited about the young talent playing in the All-Stars match. Players who stand out have a chance to be included into the Kumul squad for the test match against Tonga the next weekend in Lae. - See more at: pngloop/2014/09/19/mal-meninga-impressed-selections/#sthash.DPeDN7eh.dpuf
