Team Mulatto grand slam champ in 6th Dabaw Summit frisbee tourney DAVAO CITY, Aug. 5 (PNA) -– Team Mulatto Davao routed Scarabs, 13-4, to emerge Pool A grand slam champion in the 6th Dabaw Summit DavNor Edition frisbee tournament last Sunday at the E-Park in Tagum City. Mulatto also beat Scarabs, 11-6, in the elimination round then nipped SSG, 8-7, in a crucial semi-final match to advance into the championship. Scarabs bounced back with a win over Ultimate Avengers in the other semi-final game for their rematch in the finals. Mulatto, however, proved too strong against Scarabs as the Davao-based squad completely turned the championship into a one-sided match. Mulatto’s frisbee queen Jean “Khyrrah” Tuvilla took the Most Valuable Player award while teammate Marvin “Bruno” Sobang made it to the Mythical Seven awardees. “We had a very crucial play especially in the universal point but everyone gave their best to get that point for the team to win the game,” Tuvilla said. Mulatto led by playing team owners Daisy Jane Cimafranca and Joie Monterola opened up their grand slam title campaign with a smashing 11-2 demolition against UMM last Saturday. Mulatto then survived against Davao Disc Squad, 11-10, before whipping SSG, 11-8, in the eliminations. Mulatto players include Sheng Obra, Rizza Gallera, Pia Dumaquita, Jerelie Pastor, Badeth Oliverio, Rizalyn Robles, Lily Alanunay, Hygeia Sevilla, Cheyserr Cabreros, Carlos Montejo, Pedmars Alfeche, Brylle Quimintan, David Cura, Rodel Villafranca, Jeffrey Yee, Arvi Bertulfo, Kaiser Basil, Jay-ar Dancel, Baron Ludia and Vincent Oroyan.
